Salkantay Alternate Trek »   New Salkantay Luxury Tours

A friend of mine who is a reporter for a major travel magazine was given a free tour recently on the Salkantay trek to Machu Picchu. He told me that this new tour is pricey, but very comfortable. Instead of camping, they have built a series of cabins where hikers spend the night in comfortable beds in heated rooms. They have pack horses haul all your gear, so this makes the experience less of a challenge. Having experienced hiking the Salkantay Inka Trail and knowing how high the elevation is, this hike should still be a challenge, even withs its amenities.
